As we see mainstream society moving further away from a Christian worldview the contrast in beliefs and practices allows us to see the beauty of our faith. Many of the cultural building blocks that were taken for granted by generations past are being left behind and the more we see a departure from that the more people will understand the perfection of the Law.

The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.

Psalm 19:7

The standards, ways and definitions of our God are beautiful. They uphold the value of the individual, undergird an atmosphere where children can grow and act as formative buttresses for society as a whole.

They teach a man to deny himself, lay down his life and serve God¹. The unmarried man learns to treat women with respect and honor - not as trophies he can conquer and brag about later.² The married man learns that his happiness comes from God and not his wife and gives himself to sacrificially serve his family³. The father sees his children as walking wonders who he cherishes deeply. He thinks about their future more than their present and speaks words of affirmation to who God has made them to be.⁴

He learns to love his neighbor as himself⁵. He learns that his feelings aren’t always right⁶. His anger isn’t always justified and that wrath is best left in the hands of God⁷.

He learns to forgive. To love his enemies. To bless them that curse him. And to accept those who reject him⁸.

He can be persecuted. But not forsaken. Struck down but not destroyed⁹. Lost in the belly of the beast but not hidden from the eyes of God¹º.

He learns to look up for his redemption draweth nigh¹¹. To lift his hands in prison and to wait upon the Lord¹².

His hope is one that is fixed and certain. A Morningstar that rises in the darkness¹³. His joy is steadfast, not built upon earthly circumstances¹⁴. His peace is present, surpassing all understanding¹⁵. And His God is God - unchanging, eternal and unmoved by the ever changing winds and tides of the world.
